Stirling Constantine
1932-2019
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Stirling Ulysses Constantine, 86, of Salisbury on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Harewood, he was the son of the late William and Martha (Wright) Constantine and beloved husband of 59 years to Isabel (Colpitts) Constantine.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Isabel; children Dawn Eagles (Ken) of Colpitts Settlement, Jason (Tammy) of Upper Coverdale, Alyson Simmons (Malcolm Jack) of Colpitts Settlement and Gaius of Vancouver; grandchildren, by whom he was lovingly known as "Pa", Robbie (Stephanie), Laura, Mark (Jenna) and Julie Eagles; Isaac, Grace and Zoë Constantine; brothers Stewart (Neta) and Stanley (Marilyn); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Glenna Cochrane in 1979.
Dad retired from Canada Cement Lafarge Ltd. in Havelock with over 30 years service, but that didn’t slow him down. He went on to do both carpentry work and helped out at the Salisbury Funeral Home for several years, not to mention the countless hours puttering around the garage and restoring caned chairs in his basement "studio"!
Dad was very active in the community, having served as a Village Councillor and was currently the longest serving member of the Salisbury Lions Club. He attended Salisbury United Church. He loved to sing and was a member of the Moncton Gospel Male Chorus as well as the Men in Black. Now he is singing with the Heavenly Choir!
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) from where visiting will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6:00-9:00 pm and from where the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Interment in Monteagle Cemetery.
For over 50 years, Dad canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society and was involved with the Monteagle Cemetery Co.; therefore, if so desired, we suggest memorials to either of those charities or one of your choice.
