John Roland Couillard
1933 - 2019
Passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital. John was born in Lachine, QE, son of Helene and Wilfred Couillard. John was the youngest of ten children.
John was a fabricator by trade working at Dominion Engineering Lachine until he and his wife Beth went into the motel business in Aulac, NB for 20 years, then John took over his father-in-law's blueberry business in Petitcodiac. He served as President of the New Brunswick Blueberry Growers Association and a long time member and director of W.B.A.N.A. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved duck hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Sussex Curling Club and Petitcodiac Kiwanis Club. In his earlier years he was a Canadian Canoe Champion. Much of his retirement was spent at his cottage in Cambridge Narrows which John said "It's just a local call to Heaven".
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Jane (Joerg) von Waldow, Helen (Peter) Peck, Anne (Rob) Culling; grandchildren, Karl (Jennifer), Blake (Marieve), Cameron, Ashlee, Bree; great-grandchildren, Vera and Luca; sister, Marcelle Moisan; and special nephew, Danny (Nicole) Shaw.
Beside his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Beth; and 8 siblings.
Visitation will be held at Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 1 pm until a time of Celebration and sharing of memories from 4 - 4:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Greater Moncton, Ducks Unlimited, or a charity of choice.
