Donald Walter Thorne

   Donald Walter Thorne, 90, of Kinnear Settlement passed away August 1, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Jefferies Corner, he was the son of the late Burle and Treva (Mallery) Thorne.

   Don worked at Modern Construction in his early working years and retired as a heavy equipment operator from J.D. Irving. He was a member of the Kinnear Settlement Baptist Church, a former deacon and caretaker of the church and cemetery. Don was also a member of the Loyal Orange Lodge #52 Corn Hill for over 65 years, the Loyal Orange Lodge #124 Sussex and the Royal Black Knights #880 Sussex. Don enjoyed the outdoors and helping out on the family farm.

   He is survived and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 65 years Ena (Colpitts) and sons Barry (Kathy), Philip (Shelley) and Brent (Stephanie); grandchildren Kristin Wilson (Allison), Brennan Thorne (Andrea), Ryan (Krista) Thorne, Tammy Lynn McFarlane (Dan), Jason Thorne (Alyssa) and Jeremy Thorne (Natalie); 12 great–grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

   Predeceased by his sisters Robina Sears, Alberta Jefferies (late Cecil) and brothers George, Ottie, Emery and Arthur. Don was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

   Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372–4800) visiting will be Saturday, August 4 from 7 to 9 pm and from where the funeral will be held in the chapel Sunday, August 5 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Rick Thomas officiating. Interment at Kinnear Settlement Cemetery.
