Louise Rogers

1920-2018

Louise Rogers

Louise Alice Rogers of Petitcodiac passed away at the Jordan LifeCare Centre on June 16, 2018 at the age of  98.  Born in Petitcodiac, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Sarah (Reeder) Waterbury.

Louise will be sadly missed by her children, Linda Chambers (Wayne) and Douglas Rogers (Darlene) of Petitcodiac; her five grandchildren, Kimberley Breau (Andrew), Michael Chambers (Diane), Kevin Chambers (Chrissy), Nicole Foran (Nick), Darrell Rogers (Abby); twelve great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marion Tanton of Petitcodiac.

In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her husband of 46 years, Stanley Rogers and her brother, Dyson Waterbury.

During her younger years, Louise loved to knit, crochet, and sew. One of her favourite pastimes was making fabric dolls.  Many of them were made from material that was passed down to her from her mother.  In 1966, she and her husband began a small business growing and selling bedding plants.  For over 40 years she faithfully served her many customers.  She was an avid reader of the Bible; she enjoyed Bible studies as well as singing in the choir.

Later in life, she developed a passion for local, village history.  In August 2008, she completed her book, "Generational Memories: Life in the Village of Petitcodiac".  She also loved to play her piano, an interest that continued to the end of her life.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to those who cared for Louise during her stay at the Jordan.  The staff made her life richer through their love, humour, and acts of kindness.  Many of her fellow residents became special friends, and they brought much joy and comfort to her.  To each of you, the family extends their thanks.  You transformed the last two years of Louise's life into a series of wonderful memories, both for her and for her family.

In Louise's memory, donations may be made to the Friends of the Jordan LifeCare Centre Foundation or to the Petitcodiac Volunteer Fire Department.
