Donald Alton Moss, 78, of New Canaan passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care with family by his side.
He was born on September 15, 1939 at Young's Cove, NB to Harold Bruce Moss Sr. and Olive Nightengale Brown.
Donald is survived by his loving wife Rilla (Black); children Bonny Fenton (Shayne), Riverview, Pamela Thomas (Joel), Saint John, Terry Moss (Sheila), Dobsons Corner and Cheryl Clancy (Paul), Rothesay; grandchildren Tyler Moss, Karly Moss (Nick), Ryan, Emily and Matthew Clancy; great grandchildren Rowan Moss and Quinn Belyea. He is also survived by siblings Harold Jr. (Bertie) and Stanley (Lois) of Havelock, Evelyn Turner (late Mike), Jemseg, Marie Duffy (late Calvin), Millie and Lorne, Youngs Cove, Kenneth (Donna) and Doug (Debbie), Canaan Forks.
Predeceased by his parents Harold and Olive; brothers Robert (Rona) and Tommie; brothers-in-law Mike Turner and Calvin Duffy.
Donald was a member of the New Canaan United Baptist Church, a member of the Maritime Sawfilers Educational Association from 1984 until it was disolved. He was a director of the Canaan Recreational Center. Donald was an outdoors person. He worked in sawmills and in the woods and he loved his old Ford tractor and plowing snow. He worked with J.B. Corey Mill, Dead River, Bayshore Mill and forty-two years with J.D. Irving retiring in 2003.
Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800) visiting will be Sunday, May 6 from 2 to 5 pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel Monday, May 7 at 2 pm with Pastor Dave McPherson officiating. Interment to follow at the New Canaan Cemetery.
