Irene  Duncan

Irene A. Duncan, age 101, formerly of Petitcodiac, passed away peacefully at Golden Years Estates Moncton on March 1, 2018.

Born January 31, 1917 in Caribou, Maine, U.S. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Cora (Coburn) Rogers.

  Her husband Wendell O. H. Duncan predeceased her on February 7, 1988, as well as her daughter Shirley Brown, four brothers Errol, Harlan, Lee and Kenneth, and one grandson Harry.

  She is survived by daughter, Sheila (Avard) Northrup of Cobourg, Ontario, son-in-law Larry Brown of Geary, NB, grandchildren Terry, Coralee Leaman, Dwayne, Brandon Northrup, great-grandchildren Kyle, Mason, Lela, Ashley, Jessica, Hunter, Jake, Kennedy, Connor, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

  She was an active member of Petitcodiac Baptist Church, the Helen Hahn Women’s Missionary Society, a Sunday School Teacher, a Superintendant Assistant of Sunday School and sang in the choir until she was eighty. Irene was a member of the Petitcodiac Senior Citizen's Club and served as president for two years.

  She taught school for thirty-four years; thirty of these in Petitcodiac Regional High School and Petitcodiac Primary (Elementary) where she was principal for twenty-five years.

  Resting at Armstrongs Funeral Chapel, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac (756-3361) with visiting on Friday, March 9th, 2018 from 5-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Petitcodiac Baptist Church on Saturday March 10 at 11 am, Reverend David Woodworth officiating with a reception to follow.

  Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Petitcodiac  at a later date.

If desired, memorials to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
