Maurice Chiasson
1928-2017
Maurice Joseph Chiasson, 89, of Wheaton Settlement, NB passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family in the Palliative Care Unit of The Georges Dumont Hospital on December 11, 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Estella Chiasson, his six children Pauline (Dean), Walter (Hazel), Wallace (Stella), Donald (Josie), Andrew (Bonny) and Rachelle (Bob), his seventeen Grandchildren, twenty-one Great-Grandchildren and several foster Grandchildren. Also survived by his brothers Ernest and Benoit and sister Maria (Edmund) Savoie. He was predeceased by his parents Adelard and Adelaide (Mallet) Chiasson, brothers Victor, Aurele and Roger and sister Bertha.
He was a loving husband and father and loved his family unconditionally. He enjoyed spending time with his family and making the grandchildren and great-grandchildren smile and laugh. His greatest passion was fiddle music and taught himself to play fiddle as well as other musical instruments, entertaining his family and friends over the years. Maurice also taught himself to read and enjoyed working on vehicles and engines and fixing everything.
He worked as a Labourer and Contractor most of his life and was a jack of all trades.
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home 3350 Route 106, Salisbury, NB (372-4800), where visitation will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 between the hours of 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm with parish prayers at 8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Judes Roman Catholic Church, 3062 Main Street, Salisbury, NB (372-4748). Following the Mass, you are invited to join the family at the Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB for Burial. Donations to the charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
