Thelma Jean Jackson

1928-2017

Thelma Jean Jackson

Thelma Jean Jackson, with her loving family close by, passed away at the Georges Dumont Hospital on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Born on November 27, 1928 on Beckwith Road, she was the daughter of the late George and Lena Lewis.

Thelma is lovingly remembered by her children Julia Jackson Zodrow (Erwin), Sydney, NS; Brian (Leona), Elgin; Deborah O’Brien (Bill), Sunbenacadie; Dwight (Heather), Dieppe; and twins Synthia Blakney (Yvon), Moncton and Sandra Scribner (Justin), Vauxhall, AB.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have many treasured memories with their Granny J and they brought her immeasurable joy. Thelma is also survived by her brother Allison, along with cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Floyd; sisters, Ella and Eva; son Floyd; and son-in-law, Andrew Blakney.

This time of year was always a busy time for Thelma, with canning vegetables and making pickles. She loved to cook for her family, and holidays always meant an abundance of homemade pies, to ensure everyone had their favorite. Her home was always open to family and friends for a bite to eat, a warm bed, or a cup of tea. In later years, she passed many evenings chatting with family on the phone, working on word puzzles, and listening to country music classics.

Honoring Thelma’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home & Crematorium 3350 Route 106, Salisbury N.B. (506-372-4800). Online condolences can be made at www.keirsteads.ca.
