Raymond Steeves

  Raymond Hugh Steeves, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 16, 2017 at Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home. The son of the late Arthur and Ella (Bill) Steeves, Raymond dedicated his life to developing and growing Elgin Hi View Farms. He was a well-known and respected blueberry grower, maple producer, farmer and woodsman.

  Raymond will be best remembered for his sense of humour, his love of telling a story and his enjoyment of being with people, especially if it included a Tim’s Ice Cap.

  He was a member of Elgin Baptist Church, New Brunswick Blueberry Association and Elgin Senior Citizens.

  Survived and sadly missed by his wife Fay, formerly of Elgin now of Moncton, son Terrence Steeves of Elgin, daughter Marianne Sweet and her husband Richard, of England, step-son Stephen Onuluk and his wife Faye of Moncton, five grandchildren Cory Steeves, Shawna Fry, Marsha Taylor and Jonathan and Natasha Onuluk and three great-grandchildren.  Predeceased by his first wife Nelda (Sharpe), daughter Linda Steeves, daughter-in-law Shirley Steeves, sister Ena Stiles and brother Vernon Steeves.

  The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Years and Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home for their kindness and care of Raymond.

  Friends and family are welcome to attend an evening of celebration and remembrance on Thursday April 20 from 7 to 9 pm at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Route 106 (372-4800). The funeral will take place at Salisbury Funeral Home on Friday April 21 at 11am. Family flowers only.

  If desired memorials to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
