Hattie Alward

  Hattie Grace Alward, a lifelong resident of Salisbury and recently of the Restful Repose Residence, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Moncton Hospital with family and special friend Marissa at her side, having just recently celebrated her 103 birthday.

  Born in Salisbury she was the daughter of the late Alex and Glennie (Alward) Bleakney.  In her early working years Hattie worked at a grocery store and later as a nurse's aid at Duncan's Rest Home. She was the oldest member of the Salisbury Baptist Church. Hattie loved cooking and everyone was always welcome at her home.

  She is survived and missed by her son Vernon, daughter Hazel (Brian Farrell), and sister-in-law Lauranna (Sis) Bleakney all of Salisbury; grandchildren Matthew (Lori), Stephanie (Kevin) and Melissa (Fabian); four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by husband Dana (1958); brothers Arnold, Conrad, Lewis (Jiggs) and Stewart; sister Irene and sisters-in-law Marg Bleakney and Elsie Bleakney.

  A graveside service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home (372-4800).

  If desired, memorials to the Pine Hill Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
