Rachel Lewis

  Rachel Alice Lewis, 96, of the Jordan Life Care Centre and formerly of Monteagle passed away at her residence Monday, February 8, 2016.

  Born in Monteagle, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (Neal) Lewis.  Rachel was a member of the Second North River Baptist Church and Women's Missionary Society, the Second North River Women's Institute and past member of the Golden Oldies Bowling League. Her family was always a priority and she spent her life providing for them, supporting them and giving to them. She loved family visits, especially seeing and spoiling each new grandchild.  She enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors including many camping trips with friends.

  Survived and missed by daughter Gloria Sherwood (Allison), Salisbury; sons Max (Elaine), Fredericton and Duaine (Kathy), Monteagle; daughters-in-law Ruth Lewis and Donna Lewis both of Lewis Mountain; grandchildren Kim, Krista, Karla, Kelly and Kenda, Lana and Matthew, Stephanie and Jamey, Tammy, Melissa and Cara, Jeremy and Joshua and several great grandchildren; brother Freeman (Stella); sister-in-law Joyce Lewis and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by husband Abel; sons John and Douglas; infant sister Rachel; sisters Hazel Dobson, Sadie Lutes, Vera Lewis, Leola Smith and Flora Lewis and brothers Harold, John, Alfred, George, Donald, Oliver and Ray.

  Resting at Salisbury Funeral Home, 3350 Salisbury Road (372-4800) visiting will be Wednesday, February 10 from 6 - 9 pm and from where the funeral will be held Thursday, February 11 at 1 pm with Pastor Robb Hunt officiating. Interment at Monteagle Cemetery at a later date.

  In memory of Rachel, donations to the Monteagle Cemetery, Friends of the Jordan Life Care Centre Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
